tell congress you want epa to implement promised pollution controls

August 2, 2010

Dear PURRE Members:

The hard-won pollution limits that will curb sewage and fertilizer pollution in Florida are under threat this week as lobbyists are trying to get Congress to put a stop to the Environmental Protection Agency's implementation of the Numeric Nutrient Criteria we fought so hard to win.

We couldn't say it better than the Sierra Club email below. Please take action today. Thank you for helping to protect Florida's waters - and thank you to the Sierra Club for this excellent communication.

Dear Friend,

Tell Congress to keep pollution controls
for Florida's Waters!

florida water pollution

take action

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is set to implement new limits to curb sewage and fertilizer pollution in Florida in October.

But this week Big Polluters and their favorite state legislator lackeys are on Capitol Hill lobbying our members of Congress to put a stop to the new pollution limits.

Please make a call today to make sure our congressional leaders stand up to big polluters and protect Florida's waters from pollution.

In the past you have acted to protect FL drinking water and the state's recreational and commercial waterways.

Your Representative can make or break the implementation of these new strong pollution limits.

We need to make sure Congress lets the EPA do its job! Call now to urge your Representative to oppose any attempt to sidetrack the EPA process to protect our water.

All this week the polluters and their friends will be crying "We can’t afford to clean up the mess we make!"

But the truth is - Florida can't afford not to.

Thanks again for taking action to protect Florida's precious water resources.

Sincerely,

Cris Costello
Sierra Club, Florida

think about this...

"We must build a peace in South Florida - a peace between the people and their place, between the natural environment and man-made settlement, between the works of man and the life of mankind itself. "
