People United to Restore Our Rivers & Estuaries
Michael, chairman of the city’s Planning Commission, is a home builder on the island since moving to Sanibel in 1991. He and his wife, Maureen, raised awareness of the water quality problems in Southwest Florida with the first Restore Our Waters forum more than two years go. This event sparked a movement on Sanibel that led to the formation of the PURRE Water Coalition, which now includes members from many Florida counties and even other states.
